Intwasa Short Story Competition Submission or Entry Details 2019

The Intwasa short story competition is back. The festival organisers brought back the competition after a 4 year break.

This year's first prize is US$200.00. There are also two US$50.00 runner-up prizes.

Entry stories must be about the Zimbabwean Girl Child, her struggles and victories preferred themes are:

1). Sexual harassment against the girl child.
2). Child marriages.
3). Positive models for the girl child.

The rules of the competition are as follows:

  - Entries must be written in English.
  - Entries should be previously unpublished.
  - Only one entry per person
  - All work must be original.
  - Entries must be typed.
  - Maximum words are 3000 words.
  - Open to all Zimbabwean citizens and residents.
  - Entries must be submitted by June 30, 2019.
  - Late entries will not be accepted.
  - Only short-listed candidates will be personally notified.

- Judge's decision is binding and communication will not be entered into with individual writers.
  - Entries to have cover sheet with the following: name, physical address, email address, telephone number

  - Entries pay $5.00 handling fee. This can be paid either in cash or via EcoCash.

As one of the few literary writing competition in Zimbabwe, the Intwasa Short Story Competition continues to encourage the writing of original Zimbabwean narratives.

Young Women are particularly encouraged to submit.
